Romans Discovered eBay? And How to Verify a Historic Artifact

Our news feeds are a jumping and our blood pressure is a pumping, just in time for the Photoshop elves to deliver a early Christmas Present! Been following the Oak Island Roman Sword owned by the brothers Lagina? Well, here is the latest into the never ending question creating quest which is Oak Island.  But first a little more facts and then the shopping (or photoshopping) opportunity of a lifetime!

What It Takes To Verify Artifacts and History? (and How It Can Kick a Man’s Butt! WHEW….)HUTTON PULITZER·FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2015

Talk about hard work and frustrating work! One moment you chase this lead and the next you have a new one pop up where you are forced to chase yet another lead, never knowing if it is good. Never knowing where the lead will take you or what is real or not. That is why it takes a Research Team and tons of help.
This Roman connection to Oak Island came out of nowhere one day, but then it all made sense.

A Long Time Trusted Blankenship Family Friend and Former Worker Brought Forth the Roman Sword

Just when you think you have it figured out, along comes someone to Rick and Marty bearing and OopArt. What is an OopArt? An Our Of Place Artifact. There is no historical basis such a thing to exist, right? But yet here is it.

SO HOW DO WE GET TO THE TRUTH? TONS OF RESEARCH AND HELP

Here is how we approached this whole new twist in the adventure. We had to find answers as to WHY on one little but famously known Nova Scotia Island, could so many out of place indicators be located? Questions and more questions.
Here are some examples: Why in the radius of 50 miles surrounding this little 140 acre island are there: (1) Romans Symbols (2) Other Roman Artifacts Found (3) Glyphs of Romans (4) Pictographs of Roman Ships (5) Language Indicators (6) Out of Place Plants Foreign to Nova Scotia but From Roman Territories (7) Roman Era Coins (8) Even Ancient Mariner DNA inside the LOCAL NATIVES! and even more!

HOW COULD ALL THESE THINGS EXISTS IN ONE PLACE AND NOT BE A SIGN TO SOMETHING HISTORY MAKING?

And just when we think we have a bead on the dots and how to connect them, Rick picks me up at the airport and he immediately takes me to the Hotel where Rick, Marty, Craig and family show me this ROMAN SWORD! HOLY SMOKES how much more can there be?
The fact we had the top 8 items was enough for the research report, but now a sword? Well, the story went viral and now there are even more questions. Questions on top of questions on top of questions. The first thing I asked Rick when he said “We have to show you an artifact which came forward” is “Rick, does it confirm our theory or conflict with our theory?” Rick said, “It confirms your theory”.
Now everything is coming out of the wood work. Release information on a “key research report coming out” and boy the flood gates open. 20 people in Nova Scotia with other roman items found but unreported now want to show their finds. Goofs trying to sell artifacts. Even stories of “I dropped that” or “I made that” and now we have to chase down and ferret out every single lead.

THAT IS WHAT RESEARCH IS ABOUT- HAVE TO CHASE DOWN EVERY SINGLE LEAD!

That is what is what I mean by “can kick a mans butt”. Every email or post brings something new we have to check out. Thankfully there are more than one great PhD helping this process, so we can distribute the work load. But this is about the ODDS? What do I mean?

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF EACH CLUE AND ARTIFACT EXISTING IN ONE PLACE, COMPARED TO THE OVERALL ODDS OF ALL BEING CORRECT or FAKE?

Here is what I mean. 8 Solid leads above and now this sword. What are the odds ALL are real? That’s what we are trying to find out. HOW can so many clues be in one small footprint? That’s what we must answer.
Thus, this is only about QUESTION MARKS and NO PERIODS! We cannot put periods on any of this. That is what the research paper and hard work is for. BUT we MUST keep the QUESTIONS open IF we want answers?
This is wearing me out. Almost impossible now to handle all the leads and clues and you would be amazed just how many Roman Coins and such have been found up and down the East Coast of the USA. Amazing. But can the all be real? Who knows? But now we have the chase them down. Have some of these been faked? Who knows but we have to chase them down. Are the plants found freaks of nature? Is the DNA studies flawed by the labs? Are the coins fake? Tests confirm no, but they still have to be done over and over by different sources to know for sure.
This is ONE HUGE QUESTION MARK and as the saying goes- that Oak Island only creates more questions. The information is compelling and even if 2 of the 9 or 4 of the 9 or 6 of the 9 are proven wrong or do not stand up, how does one explain the rest?

SEE WHAT I MEAN? QUESTION MARKS!

BUT IT DOES NOT STOP THERE, her is an update hitting ebay as fast as the new story, but being shut off by ebay as being fraudulent postings:  SNIP:::

Did Romans Discover eBay? LOL Fighting Photoshop

Did Romans Discover eBay? LOL Fighting Photoshop
Everyday brings a new adventure in the world of history. Early this morning I was offered a similar looking sword to the Oak Island by a man in Uganda over ebay. Then 15 minutes later it was offered to me by a lady in France. Low and behold Russia, then China and I fully expect an ISIS branded version to come out next!
When a news story so controversial to History went viral over the last two days, just as fast the Photoshoppers, image cloners and opportunist jumped on the hot ticket bandwagon and offer their version (image wise) of the Oak Island Roman Sword.

You can now get yours, for a small fee plus shipping and handling and you too can make history headlines! WOW talk about fast acting capitalism.

So, like any history buff and concerned historian, we order our very own.

FUNNY HOW THESE “SALES” POPPED UP OVER NIGHT!

Now , what remains to be seen is if it is metal? Bronze? Plastic? or Pewter? LOL and there even different colors available as you can see. Amazing! just amazing
As for the sword owned by the Lagina’s and Oak Islands Tours? More tests are called for and that sword with the other two known to be in private collections or museums are shall we say “an ancient metal DNA match”. Will be interesting to test the new ones that popped up overnight and see what their angle is?

FROM A MARKETING ANGLE, THIS IS BRILLIANT!

Take the hottest news story going, clone the photos, see if you can sell tons and make a mint! Thats opportunistic capitalism!

BUT WHAT IF?

But, what if, one of these has popped up and is listed as a copy (since it is illegal to sell antiquities on ebay and the way around it is to say it’s a “reproduction”) is a real version?
We do know that possible as many as 10 were made, and only 3 have been accounted for. What IF one of these reproductions are real? What a bonanza for a steal of a deal.

Smart man will buy all he can and take the risk and I think that is exactly what I am going to do! What say you?

But one thing to think about?
Is the Battle over History so violent and furious that people would go to this extent to try to make one single artifact seem to be a novelty item? Who knows, but I sure hope Rick and Marty got a great deal on theirs!
